Default Re-Gearing Questions

So I found a deal on some 4.56 gears for my 2000 with the 8.25 and LP 30. It comes with the rings and pinions and also master bearing kits. Do I need a carrier for the Dana 30 or the 8.25? Do I have any other options I wouldnt mind a cheap selectable locker.

Thanks guys

8.25 uses 1 carrier for all gear ratios.
Yes you'll need a new carrier for 3.73 and numerically higher gears.

The part inside the differential that the ring gear bolts to contains the side and spider gears and/or clutch packs for a limited slip differential.

Okay so the rear is easy and It would just need the ring, pinion, and install kit.

Is an install kit the same as a master bearing kit?

So with the carrier you just use the factory spider gears?

It's a tool used to tighten/loosen the bearing preload adjusters as needed during the installation process.

The adjuster tool can be purchased from Jeep/mopar ....which is a waste of money when you can build your own for very little money.

A 36mm (Hint: Dana30 hub nut) welded to a piece of 3/4 or 1" DOM or round stock that is approx. 30" long, and a 3/4 or larger nut welded to the opposite end. The tool is inserted from the end of the axle tube and engages the adjuster. You can then tighten or loosen the adjusters vis the nut welded onto the exposed end of the tooll

I'll snap a pic of mine tomorrow and post it up for ya.
