REAL projectors, not ebay junk

well guys got bad news.
the new housings/projectors go too deep back into the headlight housing area and hit the sheetmetal. they are about a quarter inch too deep. Figured ok not a big deal i'll sawzall that lil bit of metal n they'll drop right in.....nope. The hood latch bolts to the sheetmetal on both sides where i'd need to cut. Only options are to modify the hoodlatch brackets or weld them in place and cut the lower part of the bracket off that interferes.
either of those options are more work than I'm trying to do.

do you need a quarter inch for everything to fit? (wires and everything)
these lights seem really set back in the housing...
you think you can space them out to get what you need?
and gain some lighting too?
( for the pics) its hard to see but the lights are so far back that the side of the headlamp bezel is blocking some light?

I'm gonna pull that rubber boot and the bulb out and try fitting it again. if that works then itll be a pretty simple fix of just making about a 1" hole for the light wiring to go through hand put a grommet there to protect from edges. if that's all that's needed i'll just remove the rubber boot and sealer it with the silicone at the bulb there.
I'm also going to look at spacing them out like you mentioned as well. hell i THINK i could just get some longer screws to hold them in place, just wondering if then whether the trim that goes around signals and headlights would still be mountable.

oh and the projectors aren't set that far back in teh housing at all. looking from the side, the projector lens is only maybe a half inch from the headlight lenses. the overall length of the projectors is about 6" end to end.

that sounds good too i dont have the light in front of me so its hard to tell what needs to happen and mabe a combintion of both mabe it wood look better spaced out on the jeep
take pics of you did these lights are SICK and i want to put them in mine too
let us know how it works

no way to move the projectors forward. i THINK i have it figured out though. gonna give it another shot tomorrow.
that's with the rubber boot removed. i THINK if that plug for the light were out of the way they'd fit. so I'm gonna just pull the bulbs out and test fit the housings without the bulb in. if it fits then i just need to open up a hole in the sheet metal large enough for bulb plug to fit through.
even if that doesn't give me enough room making that hole combined with longer screws will make them fit in there, just need to make sure the trim that goes around them will still work too.

ahh i see what your saying now you just need that last bit of room with a combintion of everything it looks like they should fit?
deff take some pics when you do this ( or a write-up?)
i hear you one way or another there going to fit in there

wellll i have good new and i have bad news.
after pulling the bulbs and boot and everything off the housings still hit the sheet metal and didn't allow chrome trim ring to sit flush with the holes like stock.
now the good news.......
all it took was longer screws!!!! the housings sit total about a half inch further out than stock but it fits fine and isn't noticeable. these pics are just the 1 installed, got too cold and windy to do other side. it was just about as easy as replacing with stock sealed beams, jsut had to find 4 screws.
because they sit about a half inch out adjusting them will be a bit tricky. instead of using the adjustment screw, just going to have to adjust the 4 screws that hold it in place since the trim ring isn't completely flush...... could throw washers in there if you wanted though to space it out and have then in there tight n snug and adjust via adjustment screw.
Once it gets around dusk I'll take some pics with the 1 stock sealed beam and the one hid projector in to compare.
here's pics for now.
only down side i have seen thus far is that since they sit about a half inch out there's a small gap all around the light, although i think once both of them are installed it will be alot less noticeable.

if you can take a pic of the longer screws that you put in compaired to stock?
you think the 1/2 in is going to make a differints in lighting?
if you run in to anything elst let us know, im going to get a set myself now
looks good man cant wait to see pics with them on
