really bad leak

Of course I go to Jeep to make sure I get the correct parts and not one o-ring is the same, 0 for 3! Had to go to autozone and get a universal type kit from the help section that probably had 20 o-rings of various sizes. 2 of those were a perfect match, 1 was close. Guess I'll be ghoing back to Jeep and see if they have something else.

Save yourself time and money, 1st clean engine and look for leak.
It could be rear seal, It could be oil filter assem or oil sencer. All 3 will leak alot.
Is it dripping on your starter and going down to drain plug????

Gunked the motor down 2 or 3 times. valve cover is dry, oil sending unit is dry. Drain plug is usually wet along with bell housing area by that access plate? Even changed the drain plug gasket.

The High Output engine was a Chrysler rework that appeared in 1991 model years with OBD-I ECU. A whopping 5HP increase! (torque and HP peaks were moved too). For 1996 OBD-II showed up and the engine got another rework in '97 (I believe) and was named the PowerTech.

Renix is the name given to the Jeep engine (management) system from 1987-1990. It comes from Renault (then owners of the brand) and Bendix. It is pre-ODB and these days could be called "electronic" versus what we'd consider "computerized". Instead of a code reader you use a multimeter, and there is no long term memory. There are other differences too such as a closed cooling system and some driveline components.

Final post on this, got the individual o-rings, they look better in size. However it seems as if the adapter area is staying dry and its the RMS. Thx for all the pointers. Gonna wait till spring to tackle it.
