Really confusing misfire issue!
Hi all, my car (97 XJ sport, 200k) was occasionally throwing a cyl 1 misfire code and the only symptom was a slightly rough idle.
Recently there have been a few instances where the car really starts shaking around and it will throw Cyl1,3, and random misfires code all at once.
Happened last night on my 10 min drive home from work in 30 degree weather, once while I was wheelin', and once while I was idling in a car line to vote for 3 hours.
The only things that I think are a bit 'off' with the Jeep irrespective of the problem are that there is a bad exhaust smell in the middle of the car (with door open or window down) and that I have noticed it is burning some coolant, probably gone down an inch or two in 2-3k miles.
I have changed: plugs, wires, cap, rotor, switched injectors, installed a heat shield, replaced fuel pump, cleaned grounds, checked battery health, checked compression (150 +/- 10 or so on all cylinders), changed IACV, changed TPS, seafoam in gas, seafoam in throttle body, checked for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner, changed upstream O2 sensor, checked vacuum pressure (16ish). Nothing has made any difference. Took it to a mechanic and they thought it was running fine, might have been 'within normal limits' when they looked at it.

Any ideas are appreciated.
