Default Rear brake issue, or is it an issue?

I've noticed that the rear right brake gets hotter than the rear left, after driving for 30 minutes or so I can measure the drum with my ir thermometer and the rear right is 180 and the rear left is around 100, I've adusted and re-adjusted multiple times, and going by the wheel spin test, The tension on the brakes are about the same, I get about a revolution and a half on both sides, all hardware and cylinders are new. Is the rear right too tight, or rear left not tight enough? What's the normal temperature for drum brakes anyway? I haven't noticed any smoking or smells from them.

Sounds like the parking brake cable is rusted and sticking.

Were you doing any braking during this time? Ambient today is nearly 100 so to see a drum temp of 100 in that scenario is highly improbable.

Did you inspect/check the brake lines?

IIWY I'd put some stress on the system (duplicate city driving, traffic jam, or going down a big hill using appropriate brake technique) and then measure. An underlying issue should get magnified and then you can better decide the next move.

If is stays under 200 under stress IMO it's fine.

Took it for a drive to the store today, about 10 miles round trip, and when I was pulling back in the driveway I did a few hard stops to simulate in town driving, RR was 160, RL was 99. They're not binding up enough to stop the jeep, If I put it in drive, and let off the brake it'll roll under it's own power without giving it gas.

I'm starting to think the rear left isn't adjusted tight enough.. I've been noticing that if I stop at a light, and I let off the brakes JUST enough to let the car barely roll, but still have pressure on the brakes and they do that "chattering" thing, I can hear it from both fronts and the rear right, no chatter from the rear left.

How did you adjust them? The techniqiue should be tighten the adjusters tight while rotating tire (wheel will be totally locked) then loosen adjuster slowly until drum just clears the shoes. You may need to move the actuator lever off the star adjuster a bit with a small screwdriver.

While the thing is up in the air check to make sure the rear left is working correctly.

When you get the rear up, see if the brakes will drag at all AFTER you apply the brake pedal. I'm wondering if the right side might not release as fast as it should. Just a thought.
