Default Rear Cargo Window Removal (pics maybe)

I am getting prepped for paint and wanted to fix the little rust in the bottom window channel of the rear cargo windows. Oh yeah 99 XJ 4-Door. Anyway i was wondering if anyone had any pictures of removing the window on this or had easy to follow instructions. Pics are the best being how i am a completely visual person. or if anyone knows of a link showing the process. Thanks!

I would recommend carefully cutting the rubber away and removing the window that way. I have read that removing the seal and glass without ruining one or both of them is virtually impossible so sacrifice the easily replaceable and cheap rubber and reduce the risk of breaking the glass.

Not true, at least in my experience. It's quite easy, though you do need to be careful. Remove the interior trim under the window, pry up the rubber seal a bit. Start working it until you can push some out, keep going. I've done it 3 times.

The glued in windows on the later models are a pain in the ***. Expect cutting the glue out and regluing it back in and buying a new seal. my old 90 just needed 2 screwdrivers and popped out of the molding, did it a handful of times from locking keys in it

I have never removed the whole sheet of glass just the little pieces left after it blew out but I would imagine If it is not glued in pry and then peel the end of the rubber strip out and just keep working along.

To put the new window in use the rope trick. Lube up the rope that will fit In the channel with water or dish soap. Insert rope into the groove all the way around the rubber. Then work the glass into the rubber as you pull the rope out.
