Default rear main question

im getting ready to do the rear main on my 92 xj. 4.0. when i went to get the seal i had a choice between a single and double lip. does it matter? which one is in my jeep already?

Get the double lip seal...better sealing process.

The Fel-Pro double lip seal is intended to seal better than in cases where the original seal had gotten brittle and scribed a slight grove in the crank.. which is next to impossible to get completely leakfree with a single lip replacement.

The double lip moves another lip to an area that does not have this wear... and seals better. For the minimul price increase and the amount of work to replace this it only makes sense to do so.

Trust me on this. And opt for the one piece gasket as well. Read up here about using adhesive to affix the gasket to block vs trying to install seal and oilpan together.
