I think I AM getting taken for a ride. But I'd like to know for sure if the tranny has to come out; which I think depends on if the current RMS is in one or two pieces. Can't find anything that will tell me that for the 2003 Grand Cherokee. Of course, the shop will tell me that the tranny has to come out and that it will take all day long. At the very least, I cancelled the appointment and will shop around.

If you haven't seen any drips I would put on some grubbies, grab a flashlight and poke my noggin under that Jeep yourself. There's a good chance something up above is leaking slightly and it's dripping off the RMS area since it's the lowest spot on the engine. Your eyes are every bit as good as a mechanic's eyes.
better yet...get an engine wash and go for a drive. Keep checking until you see an oil leak. chances are, you're leaking from somewhere else besides the RMS.
