Rear passanger side brake drum hot??

Default Rear passanger side brake drum hot??

I'm new here and also new to doing rear drum brakes. I have replaced the drums,shoes,and put a new hardware kit in and have this problem with a clunk from the rear brakes and the passanger side rear drum gets really hot only drove it for a quarter mile and checked the drum and it's warm not smokin hot but close. any help please ....

hard to diagnose from here, but are the pins that go through the backplate and shoes attached correctly?

You did something wrong.. shoes are hanging up and draging.. pull apart and find out whats wrong...

I belive they are in the correct position but I will pull apart and recheck

I know they are dragging I found some brake dust in the drum and as far as I went there should not have worn that much .. but i dont know much about rear drums

I checked the pins they are in the proper place. the shoes look to be correct with the longer shoe on the back side of the drum. I'm just stummped on this problem..

That was going to be my next question. Did the parking brake actuator go back into its hole properly?

Or is the star adjuster just opened up too wide? Did you screw the star wheel in fully when you changed the shoes?

E brake adjuster not properly adjusted. You can spin it from the back side and have someone try to spin the wheel as you do it.

the starr wheel was screwed all the way in and parking brake actuaitor was put in the right place

its only the passanger side that gets hot like the wheel cylinder is not releseing all the way think that might be my problem not sure but only 10 bucks for part just alot of extra work..

its not that much work. you just have to take apart your rear brakes again, then unscrew the two bolts and the brake line (if the brake line is real rusty it might twist and brake) but its easy to go to your local parts store and get a new one. but when you do it replace the other side also. you should do both sides at the same time.

Well I replaced wheel cylinder and its not smokin hot anymore just warm to the touch passanger side that but it's a little warmer than the drivers side is this normal?? I took it for a ride about 4.5 miles
