Question Rear passenger side shock leakage

I'm new hear so not sure if proper thread place to post, but after went thru car wash at bout -2 degrees, which wasn't a good idear, and with thermal/expansion shock, etc, I noticed a noise when going over small bumps and just exiting the driveway the next day.

The other day I replaced my catalytic convertor, and while underneath, i noticed that the rear passenger shock had some fluid leakage at bottom of the shock. The rear driver side did not.

So i'm thinking she shock is either gone bad, or just blew a seal or something in the shock, especially with the sounds it makes. Can no longer suspect the catalytic convertor is culprit now, which was bad and did make rattling sounds, but no more with new one, and is a different kind of sound i couldn't isolate, until i put 2 and 2 together and seen the leakage on the shock.

How long should I wait before I replace rear shocks, as should probably do in pairs? Don't want to be driving down road and all of a sudden something worse happens going over all these pot holes from the bad winter we had in Indiana.

When I ordered my jeep new in 98, I got the "up country" suspension option, skid plates front and rear, and under transfer case also option, so not sure if that suspension, with shock size would be different without the up country suspension.

So basically, is the up country suspension shock size, different than normal suspension of jeep without up country OEM option? Or would it be just the stiffness?

If so, what good brands are out there that would be good to look into for replacement? Don't do any "hard core" off rodeing, but do like to go thru fields and such and take shortcuts when bearing off the road.

Thanks for any feedback, and or suggestions. Maybe something a little better than OEM, smoother ride or something maybe for shocks. Not quite sure my options yet, why I am inquiring.

My first/only vehicle I ever ordered from scratch new, has lil over 150, 000 miles on it, and will rebuild engine if it ever goes out cause I will always keep this as my day to day vehicle.

Thanks again, bout time to do some upgrades now since milage and usage after day to day vehicle for 16 years. Also would be nice to put in a 2 din stereo, but will try and find info on that in a different thread.

I see other members using Monroe Sensa Trac shocks and liking them...might be a starting point.

Yes the Up Country package has a different part number for shocks.

Very cool to "meet" an original owner!

Thanks Radi and Salid. Original owner forever! Done with harley upgrades, now got the itch for my jeep upgrades. Already went thru a few build threads with 3 in lift and looks easy and straight forward. And also throttle body spacer, will have to look into that more for what it accomplishes.

Thanks for your feedback!
