Rear Speaker Shell/Soundbar Mounting?
I just redid my headliner as I got tired of it draping to my ears while driving. When I pulled it out, there was a black plastic molded shell that the rear speakers screwed into through the headliner. While removing the old liner, this plastic part just kinda fell out. I'm not really sure what to call it, making searching a little difficult. How is this part supposed to mount? Does it just sit in the headliner or does it clip in somehow?
Thanks for any info!

It just kind of hangs there.
There are tabs on each side that just go in slots in the roof.
You will have to give it a little bend to do that.
There is enough give that it should not crack when you do.
It is when the headliner itself is all secured up there that holds it more in.

I guess that's how it was when I pulled it out. I got it shoved up between the roof sheet metal and corner frame area, but I'm thinking that isn't what you mean by the slots? I've got the whole headliner in and my last step is to mount the speakers, and it seems that the plastic part is about 2-3 inches too far forward. Everything else is screwed in already otherwise I'd just shove the headliner forward a few inches.
I'll pull off the last few pieces of molding to see if I can see a different way of getting it in there. Thanks!

I am guessing we are talking about a '00 XJ like your profile says.
That uses the sound bar in the bottom of the shot I posted.
I circled the tabs I was talking about.
Also a shot from a video where I circled the slots the tabs go in.
