Rear Wiper Motor - Junkyard donors?

Default Rear Wiper Motor - Junkyard donors?

Hey folks, I'm back for yet more tech advise from those more XJ-versed than me!

So here is my situation: My 1999 XJ rear wiper is weak. As in, it won't even make it up the window. NOW, before anyone suggests old grease - trust me, I did that. I actually drilled out the rivets, disassembled the mechanism, cleaned and regreased everything. The wiper motor worked - for 1 day. It rained the day after I repaired it, and I was impressed I had solved my issue; the wiper went up and down, smoothly (yet somewhat slowly, for my liking, but it worked). The washer still worked, along with washer mode (non-intermittent). Then, last night - about 3 days after my rebuild - it's weak again. I hit the switch and it goes up 3 inches, gets weak and crawls to a stop.

If I get out of the vehicle, take the wiper and lift it off window (as in, lock it in the "lifted" position), and then flip the switch - no problem, wiper goes left and right/up down. (so long as it isn't touching glass and has no resistance)

So I am 100% certain the motor is just tired and old and very weak. I'd like to upgrade to a newer, stronger one.

MY QUESTION: Which newer, stronger Junkyard rear wiper motors are compatible with the Jeep XJ wiring for my 1999?

I have heard rumors of 1998 Dodge Durangos, but that would be about the same age as mine and probably weak too.

There is a 2015 Caravan at my local wreckers, but I know that unit doesn't have the relay/control unit mounted to the wiper motor, as our XJ motors have (or other late 90s Dodge wiper motors)

So does anyone have any input, maybe someone here has swapped in a newer, stronger rear wiper motor from another vehicle?

Best I can tell it is specific to the '97 to '01 XJ only.

Oh, I don't mind a little redneck fabbing to make it work. I don't even care if I have intermittent mode - I would be totally fine if I had "constant on" with return to "park" once I flip the switch off, and I get to keep the sprinkler function. If there was even a way to Frankenstein the control module/relay off the current motor, and use it to power a stronger and newer motor, that would be solid (so long as the wiper travel distance is similar, start to finish and back)

Just a matter of can it be done, by a DIYer and if anyone has done it.

I know someone has used a Durango one from the late 90s (same era of Chrysler), but they're just as old and crappy now haha

before you go fully postal with it, I would (if you havent already), ensure it has full voltage going to it, either by measuring, or running a long wire from the battery + and make sure it has a good earth!...fitting relays to speed up wiper motors is a topic that has arisen on another vehicle forum
