If I recall correctly it is just 2 wires. Power and ground.
Easy enough to see if you have power at the connector.
I am betting pump. They get crusty under there.
Think I did have switch at one time fail to though.
My rear one crapped out. They were crusty. I did both.
Fluid Film all over them to try and prevent them from getting crusty.

Looking at this I would also suspect that the pump itself is dead. The same feed that triggers the wiper powers the pump. It could however possibly be a break in the circuit or a bad connector leading up to the pump.

The easiest way (apart from gaining access if it's in the fender on a 2001) is to swap the wires between the two pumps and see what happens. If you try the rear washer and the front pump comes on, you know it's the pump, if still nothing it's going to be wiring.

OMG you can't believe how buried the washer tank is. They stuffed it between the left fender and the engine bay/wheelwell. I can barely get to the lower pump connector...that's for the front windshield..the 2nd pump is above that and totally hidden. You have to take off the whole fender to get to any of this. I had the entire front grill and the wheel well plastic cover off no help. I will check out the switch during the week but will not try to access the tank until I have 2 pumps if the switch is ok..both pumps look like rusted hunks of metal what a nightmare

No. No. No.
If I had known that you did not know how to do that would have told you.
I never do anything to my Jeep without research first.
All you need to do it get part of the inner fender out of the way.
Pretty sure it is attached with speed nuts.

https://www.efc-intl.com/products/ca...92/image/5769/

And you have to remove a retainer or two.

Door panel tool works well for those.

Amazon Amazon

So remove what you have to of them to be able to move the inner fender out of the way.
Little more for you.

Rubber grommets will most likely be fine so I would not worry about them.
I use some dielectric grease in the connections and want to say I put some heat shrink on one of
the terminals. The black one in the picture. I just did not like how it was bare like that.
Some other shots for you too.

And like I said before once done before you button it all up douse with Fluid Film to slow down them
getting all crusty again.
It is not a hard job.

Unless like mine there is a mark on the fender wing where the panel had been pushed into the washer tank and one of the pumps. All before my time of ownership.

Isn't your washer reservoir in the engine compartment?

I never realized that any '96 and down RHD XJ would have it in the fender.
Learned something new today. LOL.
Just assumed they were set up like LHD '96 and down ones.

EDIT: Know what is really sad too. My buddy in AZ just yesterday emailed me this link for a '95 RHD.

https://mohave.craigslist.org/cto/d/...211049366.html

Never even noticed that the washer pump was not in the engine bay and was in the fender.
I need to pay more attention to things. LOL.

Recommend changing both pumps because of the hassle getting to them. Have done it a couple of times.

No they do not but the chances of you needing them are slim.
Just in case though pretty sure this is the part number. For both.
