Picked me up a nice Performance brand increased flow radiator today that has larger tubes, dimpled, and much better construction than even stock OEM. And carries a country wide lifetime warranty.
It's rated to cool as much as 15-20% better than stock. So I think it's worth the investment as we all know cooling is the achilles heel for many jeeps. including our XJ's
Going to do the install tomorrow morning.

Now I have to see if I can find room for a trans cooler.... I just realised from looking a bit closer at mine...that the a/c condenser is darn near the same size as the stock radiator, surface area-wise. So I dont know if I will have room for a trans cooler rad. up front. which would royally suck.
I'll look into it more after I get the radiator swapped out tomorrow.

Mine sits in front of both with no issues.

Plenty of space. It's not nearly as big as the ac condenser or radiator.

True....but just found an issue... the front clip on my 99 doesn't have any real structure to mount to other than drilling holes in the fiberglass housing just behind the grill insert.... so I'm not thrilled at that option... there is no metal between that an the front of the condenser. So I'm not sure at this point.

I did have time to get her stripped down to where it's ready to pull the lower hose and lift the old patched one out and ready for the new and improved.
Will be finishing off the install tomorrow... ran out of daylight and don't have a garage right now....so makes projects like this one a little bit of a PITA....but it's an easy enough project...and if you don't know enough to work on your own vehicles... at least for most things.... then buying an old XJ...or Jeep in general would be a really bad idea...as they are such "needy children"....fun...but needy... It would cost an arm and both legs to maintain if you didn't wrench on it yourself.

Ive mounted them on 3 different Jeeps to that fiberglass structure on the front. No issues.
