Yes, you're COMPLETELY wrong in this. And.....you're nominated.

But, I got 2 recovery points with this cost and needed wiring for trailer. With that $200 you are talking about, that's only one recovery point, he is looking for 2

I bought a hitch with a d shackle receiver for recovery in the rear, and for the front i found someone selling a set of rustys brand towhooks on craigslist, got them for only 30 bucks and they looked brand new

i should have two sets of front tow hooks soon. but for now I went to tractor supply and bought and axle strap for $10 plus a 20' tow strap for $25. never a bad idea to have on hand.

Its always good to have several different length straps, if u dont have a winch you should look into a comalong or even a hijack lift could be used along with a ****** block you'd be allset

if you don't have proper recovery points, then you should just call a tow truck.
you could use the axle, but you could also damage something very easily.

as mentioned, get an xj front recovery bracket and a used rear hitch. that is the cheapest, and most safe recovery points you can get on the cheap.

or go to a tow truck supply and get a hook cluster or even better, a V strap with small hook cluster used on flatbeds. just don't get a V chain.
every vehicle has a T hook slot in the frame somewhere. easy to see on jeeps, it's the slanted oval slot in the frame.

if you're careful and learn how to use this properly, it can be safe.
i have one of these in my tj, so i can pull cars out of the ditch.
i was also a tow truck driver for years.

That hook thats hes showing is an excellent option but for the love of god please double check everything before you pull with them.

I would never use any kind of strap with a metal hook in it, seems really stupid to do

ya i agree, during extrication we try not to use any aftermarket "tow points" to stabalize the a car; becuase they are not OEM, they cant be trusted...

we also dont use moving pieces( axels, susp items...etc)

we mostly use the factory recovery points under the body attached to a 30ton fire engine...

i would use the factory slots over any axel any day....no matter how strong the front or rear is, if it fails you have a hell of a repair and you are stranded....

So you're saying every tow truck driver is stupid? I don't follow, what do you think your towing with when you use regular recovery straps?

You connect your recovery strap to a Dring right? Well this is the same as using a Dring except its under the vehicle where it cant hurt anyone IF it broke.

no thats not what im saying. im just saying if im goin to be pulling my friend out of a hole, im not going to use a strap with a hook in it. i prefer to just loop the strap through itself. i feel alot safer hooking the strap up to a dring that is attached to my rig and i know isnt going anywere then using a hook thats already attatched to a strap. again im not saying tow truck drivers are stupid. i just prefer to feel save then knowning theres a metal hook that could be sent flying through the air

it does seem illogical but think of it this way...

would you rather the strap to fail or would you want to rip parts off a truck with a chain....it does happen...just search youtube for towing fail

a strap may have saved this truck

not to mention it wont scuff paint as much as a chain...

I see what you're saying but these mount to the BOTTOM of the frame far enough back that nothing would happen if the strap broke.
