Default relays??

Over the weekend was under the drivers side of the dash and noticed there is a small silver round relay looking thing taped to some wiring it has three prongs on the back. does anyone know what the heck this is?? when i touched it it was too hot to hang on to (is that right??). I had been wiring up my compass/temperature rear view mirror when i noticed this. also along the way i some how ended up losing all my blinkers (hazard lights still work)and the rear window defroster (the switch doesnt light anymore when pressed) Have checked several other posts here looking for an asnwer but nothing seems to fit. Any help that could be offered would be great. By the way its a 1996 Cherokee, 4.0 auto.

Thanks!!!

Thats your turn signal flasher it should be "plugged" into the fuse box. You can get one at any parts store.

As for fuses check them all there should be a defrost fuse and replace as ness.

Sounds like someone play around with the wiring alot.

I think it is a delay relay that supplies power to the illuminated ring around the key switch, it purpose is to when you open the door it supplies power to that ring to a period of time so you can see the switch withing that laps of time even with the door colsed
