Default Remanufactured engine

Hello,
As no one can figure out what my engine noise is (earlier thread), and it has gotten worse, I am trying to prepare myself for possibly having to replace my engine with a reman. From what I gather, it is a lower end noise. I do not have the space or tools to rip my engine apart, and for that amount of labor at a shop, I could change out the whole engine with a new head casting to avoid any possible future issues with my 0331. (at least with promar)

I have been looking around for some engine options, these are the ones I have looked at:

Jasper -good from what I hear, but expensive
ATK - heard mixed reviews
Promar - heard good things, good warranty. Can swap to aftermarket head.
Marshall. - from Auto Zone - that is all I know
Collins Brothers - cheapest option, but only 1 year warranty, no head swap option

I am also willing to look into local options here in the Denver area if anyone has any ideas.
I would also be willing to swap in a used engine with low miles if the price was right.
I have not seen anything on craigslist at this point.

Anyone who has any ideas or suggestions or comments, please do so.

Thanks

Marshall has a very spotty reliability record, or at least they did a few years ago. I would stay away from them. I don't know much about the others.

I know this has been covered before but to double check.
I know the 2000-2001 xj motors are the only completely direct bolt-in swap due to the coil pack, but can I use any of the 4.0's from a wrangler or a grand cherokee without too much hassle?
