Removing Speakers from 96 XJ Soundbar
I've got some time on my hands this weekend and decided to try and replace speakers on my 96 XJ. Since I have no experience with this I am already having trouble with removing the speakers from the soundbar. These are obviously original from the factory.
I got the screen off, but the speakers have no screws, just these 4 "things" that are not nuts, bolts or anything I've seen before. Do I just yank on the speakers or do I need to do something before I rip the whole sound bar off.?
I tried YouTube but of course everything was 97+ or tailgate speakers which all of screws holding the speakers in.
If a picture would help, let me know. Thanks for the help.

The whole sound bar has to come off...and be careful as the sound bar is also the mount for the light back there....they use slide on clips that you can't access unless the soundbar is out/down.
At least that's how it was on my 96.
I plan on putting some in the rear hatch too soon, just gotta run the wiring.

the whole sound bar is held up in the middle by a smooth-shanked shouldered screw..its hard to get this undone, and I found the best way is to use side cutters to grasp the smooth shank, as it is tightly screwed into a drilled metal hole in the roof structure. This fastener holds up the rear light
If you undo 2 x screws on either upper side plastic moulding (or remove the moulding), this releases the sides...just doing this may give enough to each speaker

So it looks like I need to buy a new plug for the speaker wire. Is there an adapter or will I need to splice on a new end.By the way, has anybody used these Scosche speakers from Wal Mart? I had the Sony's in my hand but I decided to go real cheap and see how the speakers work. Anything has to be an improvement from the dried out and rotted factory ones I took out.
Old speaker on the left, new one on the right
Here is the empty hole in the sound bar:
Can I buy an adapter or will I have to splice on a new one?
