Renix AC bypass pulley
As some of you know finding a stock AC delete pulley bracket for a renix motor is next to impossible however I did confirm a thought I had been contemplating this weekend.
Went to a salvage yard to pick up some minor trim pieces for the Jeep. I happen to look at a 92 Jeep XJ with its AC still intact. I noticed that the bracket had the exact same mounting points as the Renix motor however the AC itself was mounted using 4 bolts vertically vs the 2 long bolts horizontally.
$14.00 bucks later I went home with it and sure enough, it bolts right on. Went to NAPA to pick up a Dorman AC bypass pulley for a 92 and newer and there you have it, all done.

The receipt from NAPA says p/n 660-1819. The belt size remains the same.
Oh, and you have to use the pulley spacer that comes with in the hardware bag.
It moves the pulley out about an 1/8" so that it lines up perfectly with the rest of the stock pulleys.

AC Compressor Bypass/W Idler Pulley For 87-90 Renix
Get an AC bracket from a 92. At NAPA pick up a Dorman AC bypass pulley, NAPA # p/n 660-1819. The belt size remains the same. Another thing to consider.
There was a 98 Cherokee there about 10 yards away from a 87 Cherokee. As I was comparing the two I noticed that even though the mounting points appeared the same between the two, the 98 had a smaller idler pulley where the larger clutch fan pulley was on the 87.
That's why at first I thought the idea I had was a bust until I ran into the 92 Cherokee. It had the exact same setup as the 87 Renix that included the larger pulley that the clutch fan bolted to.
So I guess the question to ask is what year did the Cherokee AC bracket change to the smaller idler pulley configuration.

Gotta be more years than 92 that use that same bracket you're getting at the junk yard.
Get an AC compressor mounting bracket from a XX to XX 4.0 at the junkyard.
Purchase a Dorman AC bypass pulley kit from Napa. Part number 660-1819.
Be sure to use the spacer provided in the kit and your original belt works perfectly.

A title? .. Maybe just call a dealer and see what years that part number applies?
I'm not sure there is only one spacer, hence the 1/8"..... Including that the original belt fits, helps eliminate potential questions. (IE, where is the CPS connector) Likewise I clarified, (OK "inferred"), it's a Napa part #. It likely cross references to other sources. Maybe that's worth mentioning.

Got Dorman and Napa in there. Now, what years?
Do we remind folks that the later mount has 4 vertical mounting bolts versus 2 horizontal mounting bolts?
Gotta be clear and concise.

10-4. No personal "hands on" here. That occurred to me as well. My thought was if it fits, any wrench will see that....and bolt it up.
I mean if the old is gone and the new is put there, likely the bolt positions will be self evident.
I just got done cutting grass in the dark. (mower has GPS). I wouldn't even bother with Rock auto, like I mentioned before, a call to a dealership might be the ticket?
Just knowing 92 is correct is a start, it can always be eddied. Btw I left out "JY" because #1, some might not have one, #2, by saying "get/from a 92", that is inferred. People without JY's should figure that out.

Looks like 93 is probably the cut off for that swap.
this is a link for the part 94+

And we know that is not the correct part.
