renix block using all ho stuff for a 99
I got a renix motor from my parts jeep it was a 89 and have a blown motor in my 99. I have read about all the swap from ho to renix but haven't found many for renix to ho. I will be using a 0630 head from the jy. The 99 had a replaced head at one point in time and is the 0331 head. Is there another other problems or pretty much just a straight swap using the 99 intake and other accessories. Or should I just use the jy motor that a 98 that I'm pulling the head from? I'm at the jy now so any help asap would be great before I leave.

No 99 should have the 0331 head. It was only 00-01 that had them. I have a late model 99 so people saying late model 99 have a 0331 head are wrong. I would pull the motor out of the 98 if its good. (Mine as well depending on what they charge for the head, it's only a little more amount of work.)
I have hear of people swapping renix motors into later models and vice versa. Just use the 0630 head, intake, and accessories on the old block.
If the swap works one way it will work the other.

Well that's the thing I have the head already pulled off of this 98 the crosshatching still looks good in the cylinder wall but the pan was removed before I got here. I don't see anything missing, as far as I know the motor will be around 300 and if I go head route its 40.
Well see here is the problem with the 99 I bought it from a guy that threw the rod and got it for a cheap price, when looking at it more when I got home I noticed the runners for the coil packs on the head a new intake/exhaust gasket and a clean clean head. I knew id have to change some stuff as far as heads etc.
The renix block was rebuild back some time but don't know when. I just don't want to get screwed if I get the jy motor and when I drop it in its knocking or even worse. I plan on either way getting a full gasket kit just to be safe.
I reread what you said yea ill just prob end up using my other motor and the accessories off the 99 and use the 98 head from the yard. And do a soft rebuild so to speak.
