So I found out I killed the battery in my volt meter. Put a new battery in it and set the tps. Running good so far. I will keep everyone updated. When it was “slipping” it reved high quite a few times. Not the idle is a little rough. Any ideas what that condo be?

I've forgotten all the things you've done. Have you ever snugged up the intake manifold bolts?

I’m up to step 16 I believe. I recently replaced intake/exhaust gasket. Oil pan and rear main. I think I have a small leak coming from the timing cover. (“Front main”). It may be runn My rough due to the oil level. I will top it off today and let you know the results. Thank you. You’ve helped more then you know

Went for a drive today and it was slipping again. It seems like it goes to shift in third and will just rev. I will slow down and down shift from D to 3 and then slow down to a stop and put it back in D and sometimes it will work and sometimes it won’t.

I have new solenoids and a new cv cable. When it isn’t raining I’m going to instal them. Until then should I unplug the tcu and shift manually to determine if it is electrical or mechanical?

I ended up working on it from 2-7pm. I was going to replace the tv cable but the one I was sent was too generic. It was longer and poorly made. When I initially pulled the pan I freaked out and thought I got the wrong solenoids because they didn’t look like the ones I pulled out. The old ones just had female connections where the new ones has pigtails coming off them. There was a stripped out bolt hole as well. So I had to tap it and go to 1/4-20 on that particular on. I was able to get it all buttoned up and add some trans fluid before it started raining. I will take it for a test drive today and keep you informed. Thank you for everything.

Took it out this morning. Drove slow and long enough to get it to running temp. Topped it off and hoped on highway and it slipped once again. Goes from first to second, second to third, peaks rpms in third, I’ll let off and it goes into neutral. Just revs.

At some point did you get dark grey trans fluid out of this unit? Or maybe someone else did and you never got to see it. It's still too early to tell for sure, but it is starting to sound like the clutch for 3rd is burned out. You would want to get a Factory Manual for that trans and see if there is a clutch that is used for 3rd and not used for anything else, or if you are missing any other gears that match up with one common clutch or band. As in my Volare 904 trans the front clutch is done which means I have no D and no R, they just act like extra Ns.

I’m sure it is something I’ve overlooked. When it’s working it’s solid. But when it starts slipping it’s hell. Napa is getting mad at me for exchanging tps’s on warranty. I noticed yesterday the end of the soft lines that go to and from the trans cooler are moist as if they are weeping. Could this potentially be a cause for air in the lines?

If it works sometimes I doubt the clutches/bands are ruined. A come and go pressure problem could do it.

That's for testing the trans side of the TPS.
