To Replace the distributor or not?
I'm installing a re-manufactured engine in my 87 Cherokee and the dist on my old motor has the white wire(attached to plug coming off the dist) pulled out of the dist. As far as I know, it didn't effect anything with my last motor, but I'm wondering if I should replace it just in case? I don't know what that wire does, but I don't want to end up with a problem because I neglected it.

I would replace it. But just so you know, your Renix will run with the dizzy unplugged. Ask Flintstone. The sync generator inside the dizzy makes sure the injectors are fired sequentially with the firing order.

Ah..Poor Crusier. Just humor him. So many years on the floor at the Jeep dealer took it's tole. It's actually a Cam Position Sensor, AUK (Also Unknown As) the gensinkeator or whatever. I have it on good authority, , that the ECU will figure out pretty quick which, (#1 or #6), is coming up to fire, and start the injector, (and apparently spark), firing order on the correct revolution. The gensinkerator just SENSES CAM POSITION so the ECU can sort out the correct starting point a tad sooner. .... (and my thanks to Cruiser for getting me straight on ...some of this!) http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...lse_Stator.htm
