Why do you feel you even need fog lights (especially ones of such low quality)? Fog lights' ONLY purpose is for illuminating the ground immediately in front of the vehicle when visibility is so bad that you can't travel very fast at all. Those situations are extremely rare, and even in those situations the benefits of even high quality fog lights has been tested and found to be minimal when compared with quality headlights alone.

Time out here folks!

I don't think the OP mentioned why he wanted to buy fog lights. Maybe he just wants to restore the original look of his ride. Or, now that he knows that they are fog lights, he could make a decision to buy ones that work effectively in that role.

Either way, $62 bucks for plug and play OEM lights is not that bad, if they perform well. And I would still like to know about that.

As for how often they are used, that is dependent on where you live. In foggy regions they are useful. And, if you live in the snow belt, they work well when the white stuff is flying.

And if you are worried about ruining $62 fog lights if you smoke your bumper, don't be concerned. You'll have to spend a lot more money to fix the collision damage so that the 62 bucks will seem like a drop in the bucket.

Hella FF75 lights in the stock location and ran the supplied harness. They're almost brighter than my headlights and throw a wide beam. Got them for $50 shipped from someone on here but sure you could find them on the internets.

I don't really see the need for them either, but I don't like the gaping holes making my bumper look trashy

Looking at the pics of the stock fogs, you should be able to put the HF ones in the same way the stocks are mounted. I have a set I am going to install as soon as it stops being negative with wind chill out here.

Some people just don't care how something looks or works only if they can buy it for $10. The poster about the Hellas sounded good I use 8 of them on my XJ but not fogs and for that price not bad either.

I also hate doing things Half azzed so I do understand what you mean.

They are working fine a year later. This price was cheaper than I could find a used set for. I guess if youre driving a beater or are worried about ripping your bumper off then yeah, the HF lights are the better option. But if youve got a mainly street driven xj, these are a nice quality set at a decent price that will go right in without any modification.
