replace a single AT-R tire?
Greetings, all -- First the situation: My left front Jeep tire was scrapped yesterday due to a sidewall hole that can't be repaired.
All four tires are Goodyear Wrangler AT radials 235/75/R15 m+s with about a quarter of real tread still left on them. The tire slowly went flat 2.5 miles from paved road via a muddy, chuck-holed, rocky abandoned road that leads across a forest preserve to my cabin. Tough going, and I have to use 4L. That 4L is important because it locks front and rear differentials while providing low-end torque.
I put on the spare which is the same size 235/75/R15 with a very different tread. It is a Goodyear LT tire with load range C.and barely worn with deeper grooves than those on the more used ATs.
Now the questions: Can I buy one new Wrangler AT to run with the other three? Or do I have to buy two and replace both front tires on general principles? Or do I have to replace all four? Keep mind I use 4L a lot so locked differentails with different tire size depths could put a massive strain on the drive train not to mention create tire scuffing and cupping.
Your expertise and advice very much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Kap

I would search for a used tire shop in and around your area to find a comparable tire to what you need to replace. Run with that used one until you need to buy all 4 new.
