Default Replaced clock spring - now having issues in the steering column - advice or tips?

So I replaced the clock spring in my 1998 XJ. Ever since then I have been having strange issues. First, the steering wheel will not "lock" - it will not lock in position when the vehicle is off. Also, the key lever to keep the key in when the key is off that you have to press to fully remove the key is non-functional. It will not lock the key in and also, when the door is open with the key in the igniton, the chime will not beep. Lastly there is an issue with the turn signals. If I signal a left and cancel it by hand (not by steering wheel rotation) it will kick the 4-way flashers on. To get the flashers to cut off, I have to signal to the right and cancel it to get the flashers to stop. Weirdly, if I signal a left and then cancel the signal with the rotation of the wheel, the flashers will not kick on. I'm just really baffled by all of this because it seems to be an electrical and mechanical issue and none of the things are physically connected besides the signal switch and the clock spring. Over the past day I have torn the whole column down and removed the switches and ignition actuator and made sure everything is lubed and moving freely - nothing looked damaged or hung up or anything. I put it all back together this evening and all of my problems were still there, nothing was "fixed." So I was just wondering if anyone had ever run across these issues or if anyone knew or could suggest a fix for them. Thanks in advance!
