Replaced Stock Front Coil Springs
After installing a set of Dorman rear leaf springs, I felt the front was too low. I purchase a set of HD Crown coils and it brought the front up about 3/4" so the ride feels level and firm.
Here's the steps I took to replace the coil (one side at a time),
Jack up front axle and place a couple of jack stands under the frame just ahead of the transmission cross member. Lower the jack until the frame sits on the stands but leave the axle up.
While the jack is still holding the axle up, remove the shock and undo the sway bar.
While the jack is still holding the axle up, put the coil compressors in position and begin to tighten them. Try to place at opposite positions and alternate tightening to compress equally.
When the spring is compressed a fair amount (about 13 to 14 inch total height), lower the jack slowly so the axle removes any remaining spring load. I lowered it an inch or so at a time and checked that the spring was coming down from the top cushion.
When the spring was loose, I removed the lower retainer clip so the spring would be free from the axle.
I had to lower the axle as far as the linkage and arms would allow until I could maneuver the spring out to the front between the sway bar link and the disk brake.
Once the spring was out I carefully removed the compressors by alternating each to decompress equally.
The process of install was the reverse.
I spent about one hour per side.
I replaced the upper rubber cushion and installed new bump stops.
Before and After - Ground to Fender
Before
Install Compressors
Tighten to about 13 to 14 inches total spring length
Remove toward front
New HD spring is shorter but coil wire is larger
New coil installed
Final stance

I would have liked to but didn't; they look to be OK. Since the coils could be changed without removing the arms, it was something I could do later if necessary. I imagine the bolts could be difficult. My arms still ache from tendinitis after fighting the rear leaf bolts.
