While changing out the spark plug wires on my sons 1999 Jeep Cherokee, we broke the dipstick top off level with the top of the tube, don't ask me how, we just did. Anyway when we tried to get the dipstick out, we just managed to push it further down into the tube, so now it is about 4 inches into the tube and we can not get it out. I believe we are going to have to replace the dipstick tube. Can anyone tell me how hard this is going to be, and give me an idea how I need to go about replacing the tube? If you have pictures that would be helpful.

The same thing just happened to mine. The dipstick tube is connected to the engine block with a bracket. Just remove the 1/2" nut and the bracket should slide off and wiggle the tube out of the engine block.
My bracket was stuck to the engine block and I eventually broke the dipstick tube off at the block. Now I'm looking for a place to buy a new tube, but I'm having trouble locating the exact tube.
