ok... can you insert a hose into the gas fill nozzle and reach the bottom of the tank or does something block it?
I already cut a piece of hose and cleaned it off. Just making sure it can reach the bottom of the tank.
If I need gas.....I am going to be SO ashamed of myself.

Old Murphy's law strikes again.
Do you have a battery charger? If so, put it on a trickle charge overnight.

ok.... lets say NAPA gave me the wrong one.... Maybe I got the pump for TBI instead of MPI.
Would it still start but just run bad?
The hoses are 2 different sizes so ya can't mix em up.
the arrow on the fuel filter points towards the engine right? (the old one didnt have an arrow)

Is there any way to tell if the pump is bad? Kinda hard to tell what the problem is....I could be looking in completely the wrong area. I KNOW I don't hear it hum when starting the jeep like the old one did before I broke down.
The only difference between the old pump and the new one that I noticed was a single black (assuming ground) wire.
The old one had it attached to the outside of the pump where the 2 nozzles come out. the new one had it on the back side of the pump. Still the disc part that the hoses run through.
The connectors are the same and hook right up. 3 wires coming out of the pump and 3 wires on the connector.

I guess the good news here is that now I know how it goes in and how it comes out. Second time around shouldn't be quite as difficult.
also. If I take the new pump back to NAPA and get a replacement is there a way to test the replacement before going through the trouble of putting it in the tank?
