Question Replacing muffler

My muffler is rotted out, quite loud, and I want to replace it. Problem is that I don't think I can get it detached from the rest of the exhaust, as it is rusted. If I cut the muffler off of the exhaust, can I use something like
this this
on both ends? It is a tube clamp with a slightly larger diameter at one end.

Yes. Those band clamps work very well. They make them straight or stepped like that depending on what you need.

The stepped ones like that is what I think I would use.
Just have to figure out what size you need after you cut.
Well maybe before you cut.
LOL.
On advice from my boss at the store used one of those for my muffler/tail pipe clamp.
While my Quiet flow has a lifetime warranty my Walker tail pipe does not.
My hope is if I ever have to defect the muffler using that clamp might actually let me separate them.
I doubt it but......

The stepped is likely what you want where the pipe slips into the larger OD connection on the muffler. Measure and see if you can get a generic muffler that's slightly longer if you need to cut back on the existing pipe. The best part about the band clamps is that they don't deform the pipe like u-bolt style clamps, so you can actually get things apart later.

I replaced the muffler on my 99 cherokee. If you disconnect the tailpipe you should be able to just wiggle the old one off. That's what I did.
