Replacing my thermostat

Replacing my thermostat
So I'm replacing the tstat in my 88 xj but the engine is out of a 92 xj. The tstat housing is off the 88 not sure about the tstat itself though. When I buy the tstat and the housing gasket to I get one for an 88 or a 92 or are they the same? I have three hoses coming off my tstat housing I believe the 92 only has two hoses

I finally realized that the 88 and 92 are the same part number anywhere you look, so once again had I just looked a little harder I would have seen that lol, thanks for the advice, i think I'm gonna go for the mopar I keep hearing its good

So I took my tstat housing off and realized why its acting like the tstat is stuck open ... There is no tstat. In my defense when I was putting this new engine in I knew nothing about working on any type of car and I was very tired. Can not having a tstat mess anything else up? And if not then why not just take it out during the summer so your jeep will run as cool as possible?

I thought the same thing so I went with the $4 one. It comes with a 3 month warranty so I figure if they only last 3 months then you'll buy 6 for the price of 1 mopar which will last 18 months. I know my theory sounds ridiculous but that's how I look at it. I don't have a job right now so I'd rather pay $4 now and $24 later after I find work. Just my two cents.

I'm sure y'all don't care but took some pictures of the housing. I decided to paint it for no reason other then I had time lol. Don't worry I sanded it all down and made it shining before I painted it just forgot to take a picture before I started spraying it. The other picture is of a chunk of my heater hose, just happened to notice a hole after I took my rad hose off, decided to fix it before it started to leak. Anyways all is good now, she's running just under 210 and only takes a few minutes to warm up not hours. Thanks for all the suggestions guys

They keep the temperature stable year round. I went through 3 stant Superstats before going Mopar. $4 versus $24 to only hav eto install it once is a big plus. Not to mention quick heat in the winter and stable temps in the summer.

I can't argue with you there. I'm definitely not looking forward to replacing it again just because I hate taking the belt off lol

Really? I actually think its pretty ugly lol. But my choices were that or flat black and my bumper is flat black and I have to paint that almost daily because I am always hitting things with it (intentionally of course) so I decided to save it. It's just Walmart brand spray paint it has a dark green lid but comes out that color.

I got tired of waiting for the heat to work in the winter. For $20 more and being comfortable all winter long, and not needing to change it soon, it's one hell of a value IMHO.
