Replacingory steering wheel
Title should say, "Replacing factory steering wheel"
But my computer freaked out apparently...
anyway...
How simple is replacing the factory steering wheel? I have a 2000 XJ and the leather in the wheel is pretty chewed up. Ive been told I should just avoid bothering with because of the airbag situation... Anybody done this? Been looking at a few after market wheels from 4wd.com
Thanks guys

An airbag can technically blow even if you have the battery disconnected. There should be a harness you can disconnect in the steering column that will lessen the risk greatly. Still be careful; an exploding airbag is nothing to scoff at.

dissconnect the battery, pull the airbag fuses, and wait like 25 minutes. then just keep your face away from the airbag when you unplug it and never set it upside down just in case. That way it wont launch thru your garage ceiling!!! After that, just use a puller to pop the wheel off, and put your new one on.
