Default right front electric window not closing

My first post. Hope im in the right forum. My 97 Cherokee Sport (I've had it for 3 years). The right front electric window control has worked intermittently since I've had it. But I've always had control of all the windows from the drivers side. I put the window down a couple of days ago, and that was it. Not going up from either switch. I went ahead and replaced the window regulator which I've done to correct electric windows on other cars in the past. Again, nothing from the passenger switch, but it went down from the drivers side. And thats where it stayed. Obviously not the window regulator. Any helpful input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did the regulator include a new motor? I had problems with one of mine, changed out the motor and regulator with a used one. I took a chance, but it worked.

Sounds crazy but open you driver's door while sitting in the driver's seat. While holding the right front switch in the closing position slowly open the driver's door full open and then come back to full closed - just before it latches. Go slow. If the right front window closes then you have a wire coming from the master switch in the driver's door to the right front door that's broken and making intermittent contact as you exercise the driver's door. It happened on my 98. I removed the entire harness and found other broken wires that explained the other window/door lock problems I had. I spliced them and reinstalled the harness.

All new from Advanced.
The same symptom. Window only went down. Must be a switch/wiring issue. Thanks

97's have terrible wiring. Mine does the same thing every so often. The POs solution was to slam the door a couple times................ O,o Ive gone through 4 drivers side and 2 pass side switches..... :-/

Thanks OAS. My hope of a simple solution doesn’t seem likely.

Just for the interim, to get the window closed you can removed the inner door panel, unfasten the window from the regulator and slide it upward till closed. You can adjust the pinch on the aft vertical sliding channel to keep it closed or cut a length of 1X2 to prop it up till you get the problem sorted out.

They all do. Not just the 97.

For those having issues with thier windows or locks, try the videos below. For the driver side switch, the D-pad and L/R button do not pop off. Leave them be. Careful prying the smaller buttons off as you could break them. Ive split a few. Some took the passenger side switch apart and resoldered those joints as well. And aftermarket switches have been known to have poor solder joints out of the box. I dont recommend taking the safety lock apart as the spring inside is super fiddly to get right again.
