apparently batteries are getting to the stage of oil wars...

bottom line is, what are the best CCA available across the board??

or better yet, what are the CCA's you're running in your rig??

I like my autocraft gold honestly, like a total of 8 years coverage on the battery....and I abuse it...it gets drained, jumped, submerged, dirty, etc etc.....but its still good lol, also they're made by Johnson controls- same guys who bring you the rainbow tops of optima

Go to advance auto website and and find the battery that you need for your truck. Then use the code TRT41 for $40 off $100 at checkout. If you are happy with the price, Choose ship to store. Pick up your battery in an hour. Ive done this 3 times in the last few months for myself and family members. No problems with them so far.

I used to use the walmart maxx batteries for the warranty 8 year 4 free. But I got a new one for my truck since I've got it I've had to almost jump my truck when I want to use it. Plus the warranty went away to only 3 years now and price when up. I get costco now never had a problem with them either always start in cold weather even if been sitting for months with no use. I worked for sears and the diehard batteries were crap and expensive 109 for a battery yea I don't think so ill go down the road spend 80 for one with a better warranty and won't crap out on me. But ill say this the platinum batteries are nice but super expensive might as well run two costco batteries for the price of one platinum. Be and this other guy got a set off a diesel that the guy wanted warranty out. Well them say for about a year in the back of a truck no load nothin. If I had to move a vehicle if use it and make it work just for that one time. My mom bought a interstate battery back in mid 80s for 125 lifetime warranty. Still have orginal paper work just go in and get a new one everytime.

Also get the biggest battery you can fit measure the battery tray and over all height and width even if you have to change the to side terminals. More CCA is always better then not enought plus reserve time too and its not that much more.

I prefer Super Start batteries from O'Reillys.
This I find largely coincides with the oft-prescribed, and incorrect, mentality of "get the most CCAs possible". The only way to cram more power into a given format is to jam more battery into that small spot. In standard flooded batteries this is a very very very bad thing. Lead plates are so close to each other that vibration over time weakens the mounts and the cells short out internally. Technologies like AGM and fancy spiral **** use a different construction and get around this problem.

XJs came from the factory with 500 CCA batteries. Mine lasted for 8 years. Why do you feel the need to run 1000 CCA? Read the reviews everywhere - it's going to die after 36 months and leave you stranded! Why the hell would you shell out megabucks for a fancy battery when the factory battery probably cost $80/unit and provided adequate power for a stock Jeep? (winches, etc, are of course an exception to this line of reasoning)

Normally I advocate for upgrades, but this is unnecessary and not really a good idea. A faster-discharging battery won't fix an oil-soaked starter or marginal battery cables...

My advice is to get the best brand battery with the best warranty in the closest-to-stock size you can find. Get something that will LAST, that the manufacturer and marketer stand behind, and NOT leave you in the middle of nowhere. Parts store guys look at me like I'm crazy, like "what do you mean you don't want DOUBLE THE POWER for only $10 more?" You ever hear the saying "If something looks too good to be true, it probably is"?

This isn't an attack on you personally, but I am so tiredof reading this kind of thing on the Internet, whether it's oil filters, computer parts, or gasoline. Yes, thanks to mergers, buyouts, and monopolies, there are relatively few OEMs. Everything is built to the customers' specifications. Ask WIX, ask Champion Labs, ask Foxconn. The same factory can crank out cheap **** and quality items very easily by sorting product after they hit QA or just changing the process for a couple of runs. The difference can be a single letter in the part number, and one item is vastly inferior. Just ask WalMart. Really now, do people see UPS trucks go to different businesses and assume that they sell the same products?

Guys, I cut and pasted the info because I wanted the full info available for everyone to see
I personally ran these batteries in my Ford SD diesel for over two years without any problems. I had previously had run the gamut with other batteries that kept failing.

It doesn't make any difference if the battery is not properly maintained. I use the NAPA 7534 and shoot for 5 years. If I get it, I'm happy.

ashamed I bought a walmart battery, I swear I've been trying to stay out of that store and actually hardly ever shop there anymore...

this battery of mine came with a marvelous 2 yr or something replacement warranty.. wooohooo, moved in may and let my brand new battery sit a month without using it, and wham its dead !!!!!

now, regardless I get slow starts all the time with the replacement battery.... I think once my jeeps up and DD, I may just replace the battery every couple weeks see if I can bankrupt walmart

I have been running the Interstate batteries in my vehicles with good results...

With the last lead smelter in the USA closing its doors in Dec, I wonder what we will be getting for batteries in the future... Looks like we may beforced into the Lithium battery market soon...

Also, just a second to Carbuff's advise on using the online discount at Advance Auto... Do a Google search on Advance auto coupon and you'll come up with several different ones to choose from... I had a tad over $300 worth of stuff to buy for my project Jeep... Split it up into 3 separate $100 orders and got a total of $120 off... Nice little chunk of change for a little time on the PC... Also, you can tell it to ship to the store and find out if it is already available or if ya will have to wait a day or so... I usually place the order, print it out, head down there and pick it up (not even waiting the hour it says to)... OK, now back to our scheduled battery discussion...

Last battery I bought was a used auto zone duralast gold, 78 series, I paid $34.99 with a 30% discount. I didnt have a lot of cash at the time but it works. I think something like 800 cca
JCI makes the duralast batteries too.

There are plenty of lead smelters in countries with less strict environmental standards (China, Mexico, etc.). So I'm not too concerned with availability of lead-acid batteries in the foreseeable future, however impurities in the lead may become an issue if production is shifted to "third-world" countries.
