It's been quite a few years since I've done one but here's what I recall...
step 1, get a buddy to help you and make sure you got some cold ones in the fridge. Crack said cold ones.
Step 2: Using a sharp utility knife, cut into the surrounding seal and push the wire through.
Step 3: Using a sawing motion, cut through the windshield surround. Obviously someone needs to be inside the car and someone on the outside.
Take your time. It's not fun but completely doable. Getting the window suction cup holder thingies makes removal much easier but if each guy is on opposite ends you can push the windshield out from the inside and pull it off.

If you are close to a auto window shop ask them how much to take off the windshield. If it is a reasonable price ($20-$30), let them do it, then carefully drive it home and fix and paint the pinchweld area. You have to use an auto primer and paint that will give you a strong bond to the metal and then to the urethane. Ask the window shop what they recommend using for the urethane they use.
Then take it back to the shop and have them install the new windshield.
I removed and installed the windshield, and honestly, I should have had a pro do those parts of the work because they will do it better because they have the tools and experience, especially installing the windshield where you have one shot to get the urethane application and glass setting right.
Good luck.
