Rough idle maybe a misfire?
Hey guys! So just earlier today my 96 started to run like hot garbage and idk what happened. It had the CE on for the CPS(which was replaced with a crappy one from oriellys) but it never really ran bad unless it got super hot. But anyways I took it through a little bit of water then came out and put it in park for a second and it sounded like it was misfiring like crazy, I have a video of it! But the CE light went OFF and like coasting down the road it ran fine but when leaving from a stop light or heavily accelerating it would sputter a ton and just sound absolutely terrible. Anybody have any ideas? I’d normally be alright but I’ve already hooked a scan tool to it and nothing’s being read. Also plugs, wires, cap and rotor are all new, rotor and cap we’re not done by me but you can visually tell they are new and it had no issues like this in the past even with the CE on.

So it started running rough after you went through the water? If so, I'd start making sure all of the ignition and electrics are dry. Everything may be new, but that doesn't mean it's waterproof, it doesn't take much water to cause problems.

Usually if moisture/water is causing electrical issues, it means there's something exposed (bad wiring, failed seal on a sensor) where the water is causing an intermittent short.
It doesn't cost you anything to do a thorough inspection of all the wiring, double check connectors are tight and sound, grounds are clean and tight. Definitely do that.
Also that non-Mopar CPS is a ticking time bomb on an automatic tranny Jeep, so I'd strongly consider trying to get a good Mopar sensor if you can find and afford it.
Let us know how it goes.
