That was like an encyclopedia of answers...i feel so learned. I'm gonna sign off and watch mindless television to balance out my new levels of knowledge...
But seriously, I just put Valvoline Synthetic Blend in...and I think ill just stick with that...
I suppose you are right about my statement...the real issue isn't whether new leaks are going to show up when switching to synthetic...it's whether I'm willing to replace them (seals, gaskets, what have you)...which i should be, if i care. which i do. so well put. thanks for the help.

Thank you for the kind words. I am just another Jeeper who needed a new way to pay for his hobby.
Though I can't find a hard number.. I suspect that you will be getting to find out what condition your seals and gaskets are in using even a synth blend. Generally they have a level of detergents between conventionals and true synthetics.
Well I've already said....
Yes, there are instances with wet clutch set-ups slipping when being converted to synthetics. But the environment is much like an automatic transmission... So the individual clutch material is going to be the key. Crane cams has long suggested using conventional oil for the break-in period for their cams. Even now they offer a break-in additive with a heap of Zinc and Phosphorous due to the API-SM rating oils...BTW... new Harleys roll out of the factory with synthetics in them...So do most new vehicles...

just speaking in general not really in a specific veichle , but im really big into motorcycles and some companies dont recomend synthetics at all and other dont recomend them in a brand new machine until an X amount of miles , the reason is ... when parts are new they need a proper break in period and a synthetic is to slick for the parts to get proper friction for a proper break in procedure, and i know people who have clutch slipage problems with synthetics
