rust on 1998 XJ
I have a 1998 XJ, runs perfect.
However, I have a problem with rust. See attached picture.
Is there a way to take care of it?
Should I replace the part? Is it something doable or should I take it to a body shop (where I am sure they would charge more than the value of the car...)?
If it is doable, what is the part I should be looking for?
Thanks guys

Well seeing that you have a red fender flare and black on the rear I would say you don't have the skills to paint so if I were you I'd take that rusty rocker panel to a body shop cause from the looks of it there's gonna be a big A$$ hole there under all that cancer. Cheap route is cut it all out and weld in new metal. Best route order a whole rocker and avoid future problems. If It were me I'd hack both rockers off and weld in some 2x6 steel rock sliders but that rig looks like it see more street use than off road.

You are looking for a replacement outer rocker panel.
Several companies like Classic2Current Fabrication sell them. Rock auto has them. Price is cheap. Cut out the old, weld in the new. You can either piece in the bad section or replace the whole rocker, depending on how far it's spread.
Problem with rust is what you cannot see is often worse than what you can. Take a good look at the inner rockers, floor pans, spring mounts, frame rails etc, make sure you don't have additional problem areas.
