Default Rusted floor board help!

I had my 98 XJ up in the air on a hoist the other day and i saw some rust under it on the drivers side floor board. I felt the spot on the inside and it feels soft on this same spot. Is there anything i can do to repair the rust and make the floor board stronger? thanks guys!!

here is a pic of the rust spot if it helps!

you'll have to remove the seat, trim and carpet to access the rust area, grind and cut out rust and weld or rivet in some new metal, seal and paint. it doesn't look that bad, yet. once you get the seat and carpet out, you'll be able to see just how bad the rest is, especially under the seat.

flip the rear seat and look under the carpet there too. that's where your leaf spring boxes are and it's very important not to rust out there.

heck if you wanted to do it on the super cheap you could use some self taping screws instead of welding and riveting

Look on page # 4, scroll down to Welded Floor Pans, and check out what I did to my floor this week.
You don't need to go to that extent, but be sure to cut out all the rust, and weld or rivet a piece of metal, seal and top-coat, if you don't you will be faced with what I've been working on for 3 months, putting in a New floor.

Mine has a few smaller holes i've been working on. I've took my grinder to the floor to find solid metal, cut out the cancer, and overlapped with new metal and used pop-rivets to hold it in. Its not a show car so i'm good with the cheap look. I painted before and after I laid the metal with roll-on truck bed coating to seal the metal and the opening.
