Default Rusty and rotten rear window channels

Hi

I have only gone and bought a 2000 xj on a whim because I had one 22 years ago. Here in the UK everything rusts and this model seems to be a rare thing , and prices can be quite high . My problem is that I didn’t know any of this and so getting hold of the channels has become extremely problematic. Impossible so far in fact .

these are the thin rubber coated strips of metal that are bolted to the top of the rear passenger doors and that separate the quarter light window from the opening window , and act as a guide channel for the latter .

my question is can anyone guide me to a parts supplier or breaker ( from somewhere dry and sunny ideally &#128556 or even a fabricator in the USA ( or elsewhere that has dry and sunny weather all the time ) that I could get shipped over . If I can’t get any I’ll have to modify the car into a van at this rate !

many thanks

You can find parts diagrams here: https://xjjeeps.com/
If you just do a page search for the word "Door" and keep clicking until you see a diagram of a door, you'll eventually come across the part number and proper name of the part, just be aware that some parts are only for certain years, you may need to look below the item table to find any codes relating to year or body style (not that this divider would be found on a 2 door).

I can't tell you who to use but being UK myself, if you find a company and they deal great with overseas and customs, please post back who you went with, it's always handy information for future reference. The only 2 things I've bought from the USA have both been through eBays global shipping and not from a company direct.

You talking about the vertical part?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/PASSENGERS-...ry!06795!US!-1

If so that part is not separate from the window. It is listed as one piece in the parts catalog.
Thing is I have seen a couple Ebay postings over the years that have been for just the glass.
I took really quick look at one once and could not figure out how it came apart.
In my defense I spent a whole 30 seconds looking at it.
Almost always the bottom 2" of that channel are almost always rusted to a certain degree.
Even in the link above you can see some rust. Even though the guy does not really show you a good shot of it.
As if trying not too. LOL.
Grimy Ebay sellers. MLOL

So the first shot is from my '00 parts catalog. Second from my '94 to '96 parts catalog.
One part number for glass and the division for the '00 and two separate part numbers in the '94 to '96.
Many times on Ebay I see sellers listing the whole set up. Saying it fits all. I always wondered if it actually did.

Hahaha.. dry and sunny weather all the time... I guess New England is a proper name for where I live in the U.S.A. It's been raining every day for the last week.

No reason to feel that way.
I am glad you found that.
I have always wondered if that little rear door window fits all years.
Just cause the part numbers are different does not necessarily mean it won't.
Visually they look the same.
Maybe they are and Jeep started not listing them separately.
I almost hope the OP tries one.

just on a side note for our XJ's... that rear passenger fixed piece of glass design was actually quite genius... It allowed them to use a straight piece of window glass that will roll all the way down inside the door.

This is a review from the link I posted:
"Exactly what they say it is. 87-96 rear door glass divider. Installed it into my 97 cherokee with minimal modifications, I would like to see them making a 97 and up divider witch is a bit slimmer and rubber coated insted of metal H bar (pre97s). Also I feel it good to mention it is an omix-Ada part just sold from Team4wd, my understanding is that omix does not make them anymore tho and I guess Team4wd scooped the last of em up from omix.

Overall I'm happy with the product and service I've received from Team4wd, also shipping to Canada was no problem."

Now that should help the OP.
I swapped out all my glass for privacy glass. So I have my original little rear door windows put up.
One of these days I should drag one out to see how the glass is separated from the division.
If they weren't so expensive I would grab two just because.
But for both sides, shipping, and sales tax talking about $130.
