Yes, you can tackle some serious stuff on 33s with 4.5" and a long arm kit. What kinda trail riding are you talking?

with 4.5" a LA kit and some good bumpers, sliders and skid plates? you could tackle some nasty trails, you'll want to look into upgrading your axels too but that would get your Jeep to the point that you could take on some serious stuff in Moab.

personally id not go over anything past 4.5 to 5 inches of lift
i have the rustys 3 inch and some 33s and its been able to handle everything iv thrown at it and had all the flex i needed
6.5 is nice i bet you could run about 39s under there but thats just too high for me

all in all the rustys kit i had was cost effecient easy to install and works great
it just took about a week to settle

Mine ain't a mallcrawler either. The 3.5" w/ 32's is my girlfriends. My other jeep is stock with mad sag in the rear and a jacked coil spring on front passenger side. I put that thing in more places it shouldn't be than the lifted one.

I just REALLY like pushing things to the limit. This will be my first full summer with a jeep so hopefully I'll go w/ some groups that are Hardcore here in colorado.

BACK ON TOPIC-
Your questions now is what keeps me from lifting until I find out what I like/dislike.

And all of the options that Rusty's has for their kit, i'm pretty sure rough country would be more than willing to make accommodations for you to have those if you want them(mainly the flex you'd gain buy running 4.5" packs and 1.5" shackles)
Other than having lift shackles, I am actually impressed that Rough Crap was able to put together a fairly complete kit... They are well known for two things... A really awful stiff ride and horribly incomplete, half-assed kits. Also I am amazed that they don't use a factory style track-bar. That's one of the problems with the Rusty's kit shown...

But when you are scrounging around the bottom end of the lift market, you don't have many choices.

Thats what Rough Country used to be known for....in the past few years they've really turned things around and wheelers everywhere are singing their praises. Lift shackles aren't a bad thing, they actually help a leaf spring ride softer and flex better. I've heard more bad things on this forum about Rusty's stuff than RC's....just sayin
