Rusty's vs. Roughcountry

one thing i give RE for sure is their 5.5" extreme duty kit actually measures out to about 6.5 inches. that way they save warranty issues if it saggs.
i believe it's the same as all their kits, they're about an inch more than stated. bonus

I am curious as to how a track bar fails. Was the tie rod too small and barely threaded on. I have used Rustys track bar for a long time with no problems. When I install any parts I always make sure they are safe and in good condition. I dunno I guess I should research the whole story.

My Reasearch:
Looking at the following link (https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/every-xj-lift-all-read-237/) Kyle has listed all of our options for our lift height. We have the following lifts available:
XJ 3.5" SUPER-RIDE W/REAR SPR (Part #RE6025) for $584.95.
http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Produc...d=950747148871
XJ 3.5" SUPER-FLEX W/REAR SPR (Part #RE6025) for $760.95.
http://www.rubiconexpress.com/Produc...d=950747148871
Rusty's XJ Cherokee 3" Spring Pack Kit (Part #RK-300SP-XJ) for $438.00.
http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...ode=sus_xj_kit
Rough Country XJ 3" Series II Suspension (Part #670x With Upgraded Rear Susp) for $609.09.
http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3x.html
Rancho XJ Mid Size w/3". Rear Leaf Springs (Part #x4000 or x4001) for $667.92.
http://www.4wheelonline.com/jeep/Pro...roductId=92003
There are others too (according to Kyle's post), like OME, Pro Comp, Skyjacker, Full Traction, Warrior, and Rock Krawler.
I'm interested in finding out which of these kits really is the best and why (on street, off road, reliability, etc. I'm also interested in knowing if these kits are complete or if you need to buy more junk to make them work). There are a lot of variables and I don't see any reason to limit your search two only two companies so early in the research phase.
Just my humble $.02.

I hope it's not a thread jack, since it's on the same subject, but I noticed that only Rusty's has the lift/wheel/tire combo available. Pricing doesn't look too bad either. Any verdict on that or should I stick to getting everything separate?

For those who are considering Rc, GrimusXJ from NAXJA will give you a great deal if you contact him at RC. I got 4 new shocks shipped to me for $100, Grimus suggested different than stock valving based on my driving style and he hit it dead on. Ride is fantastic in all settings.

I would put Rusty's and RE in the same category and put RC in the entry level category. I know my long arm kit is beefier than the Rubicon Express kit for the XJ.

If you take the RE 3.5 kit and compate it to the Rusty's 3" and RC 3" and take out everything but springs and then add shocks you are paying the same. RC and Rusty's 3" which is clsoe in height to the RE 3.5 only comes with spings and shocks nothing more. RE 3.5 comes with springs, brake lines, end links, LCA's so add it all up and the price is about the same.

trackbars from Rusty's fail on three different accounts, and you're correct...they're the plain jane trackbars, not his HD ones.
they are;
1. TRE thread failure...he makes them trackbar too short for the lifts he sells it with, so to set your trackbar, you end up with around 3/8" of thread stuck in there...not enough, it tears out.
2. bent trackbar...I've watched one compress and bend in half, only thing that kept the jeep from going over were the rocks it hit as a result.
3. the metal breaks and stretches in the lower bushing area, ovaling out the hole for the bushing, and pretty much breaking the trackbar right off.
there's enough problems with the lift that I don't want it. not to mention poor customer service. I get great service from RC, but I only talk to Jason
