sagging headliner

1.Yeah, just remove the whole headliner
2.Remove the material
3.Clean ALL the loose foam off
4.Spray with (headliner adhesive) from napa
5.Apply new material of your choice
6.Reinstall and Voila !
Note, do not cheap out on # 4, or you will end up doing it again after the first HOT day.

I redid my a couple of years ago. Did the headliner, overhead console, sun visors all at once. With matching factory color material. That I got off the Internet. Aprox. $50 for material and spray adhesive. And it took an long afternoon to do. Looks just like the original. Although I liked the ideas of putting something else up there. I my self wouldn't use something that would hinder possible future resale of the vehicle. (should you decide to sell it down the road) I know if I would be purchasing a used XJ, I would use the fact it has a Texas flag mounted as a headliner. To knock the price down. But with that said. It is your vehicle, put what ever you want up there. (**** carpeting, astro-turf, what ever floats your boat) I also took the time to put sound damping material under the headliner, before re-install.

I'll be out of this forum in about 2-3 days, almost done with XJ.
Cadillac and Expedition engines are next.
You are all right. Why should I waste my time trying to help somebody?
From now on I will not.
Let the countdown begin!!

Alternatively: On my recently bought '89 I just used upholstery pins(corkscrew shaped) to tack it up. I didn't want to spend much as I'm selling it in November when I move back home.
