Has anybody ever thought of putting sound proofing (like dynamax) on the roof after tearing out the headliner and then do a spray adhesive to stick new fabric to the back of the sound proofing.

I was going to do that and put back original headliner too, but didn't have the $$$.

1. The front dome light keeps sliding out of its bracket (dont need it so I took it out)
2. The rear sound bar is partially secured by the headliner board and wont work without it unless you modify it. I just got some self tapping sheet metal screws and went through the edge of the plastic soundbar and into some double wall on the roof. Ive gone mudding several times and bounced around and its held up so far, but it does create alot of noise when it bounces around (no support in the middle).

Inside surface of the roof gets hot when vehicle is parked (duh) but as soon as your moving it cools right down even in the hottest weather. Made no diff with the a/c either. I've had no problem with the front dome light moving although I did relocate the wiring to it. Cherokees are NOISY anyways so I don't notice any diff. As far as the speaker box I just used 1/2" neopreme pipe insulation. Cut it to length and split it. Then slipped it over the edges of the box. Made for a tight fit. One nice thing about no headliner is the increase in headroom. As of now I have no plans on replacing it. As I said in an earlier post there was no board in my '96 to recover. It was a fiberglass pad that couldn't be reused.
