School me on tires
So I have 31x15 size GY Duratracs on my 2000 cherokee. I've been on the fence to sell them because I do zero offroading. I got them because they were supposed to be the best compromise between road/off-road. Turns out I use them 100% for road and just in bad weather (Heavy snow).
I wasn't a fan of them during rain, I found them to be less planted, guys in new Wranglers flew by me when the cherokee didn't feel stable at higher speeds. They are Killer during snow and dirt, and pretty good on the highway. However since I use my truck for mostly all high-way or normal driving, I'm debating selling them and getting road tires. However I would want road tires that are great for rain (anti-hydroplane), snow, and help improve MPGs. I would assume that duratracs with the big cutouts and grips make MPGs worse and are not good for pushing rain away from the tires.
Just curious about experience and if you guys would recommend i jump ship and get road tires or stick with the duratracs until they are dead (have 6k on them and have a loooong way to go).
Probably stay with 31" tires, maybe consider 30"s. But guess i'm a little tired of probably blowing money on gas, ride comfort and instability during heavy rain if other tires out there would do the job i need better.

It'll feel like a hot rod again if u go back to the stock 28" tall tire. TireRack.com has all kinds of owner reviews/surveys on whats best for what.

more concerned with something that is great in rain and snow. The duratracs put me off when i felt like they were unsteady in snow. Unless that is just because the jeep isn't that heavy.

i work at discount tire, the best tire is the michelin ltx M/S its not cheap but will last forever.
i put BFG all terrains on mine, 265/70/17. They last forever on road and do great in the mud plus they look good. i got 70k out of my last set.

no such tire exists. I think you meant falken rocky mountain tires. They suck.

I've got 30" BFG AT's and they're great. Still the best looking AT tire on the road and they do great in the snow, rain and mud. They ride quiet and last a long time. You get what you pay for when it comes to tires.

gotta agree with the michelin ltx m/s. had them on my 4x4 dakota and even at half worn they were better than my new gy wrangler ats in the snow and rain. strange, but true.
