Razor blade and needle nose pliers is what I used. A sharp 1" putty knief will work as well.

I just use my gasket scraper, but I have used carb cleaner or break cleaner to kinda soften the gasket up. That seemed to work good sometimes.

I use a razor blade in a scraper handle or duckbill pliers (depends on how much reach I need.)

For a final cleaning? Drill motor with a brass brush, Scotch-Brite pad, fine-grit flap wheel, or fine-grit Nylon abrasive brush. Run at high speed, flush with carburettor cleaner when you're done.

Same method on the sump pan proper.
