Screamin Demon ignition upgrade
Has anyone run the Screamin Demon coil pack mod for anyone who has done the coil rail eliminator on their 00-01. I wanted to know if the wires were long enough if your coil pack is located on the coolant overflow bottle mount points. Its made for the 2007-2011 3.8 V6 and I run the stock coil for that model right now but have uncertainties about the wires I have now. and the best I can get is 7mm for a pre-99 style. They just barely fit on nbr 1 plug because of where I have mounted the coil pack, and they probably cant handle the voltage of the upgraded coil..thanks

Confused by a couple things.
Where did you mount the coil pack?
And barely fit on nbr 1 plug?
Anyway following another members lead here I bought the Ksuspension kit.
But just the harness and bracket for the overflow tank.
I went with the Mopar coil he used for the install. 56032520AF for the V6 3.8 Jeep.
He made his own wires but I bought these.
They don't route perfect, is some excess, but not bad.
And they are 8mm in black.
Wanted black wires. Not a paint my valve cover red type guy. LOL.
They are for an XJ with a distributor.
Could post some pictures if you would like.
I was thinking about going the Screamin Demon Coil route.
But I was reading some weird stuff that I did not understand about high performance coils.
Something about amps and the PCM. See Post #8 and #9 here.

And this stuff is so far over my head that I just did not want to chance it.
Maybe later in the thread it was determined to not be a problem.

I mounted the coil pack on the overflow bottle bracket with the connector up so 1 and 6 is most aft. I used the wires from a 99 and the longest is a tight fit from the pack to #1 plug. The screaming demon coil kit is for the V6 so I don't have any reference on how long their wires are since I don't know what that engine looks like

So if I am understanding you correctly.
You mounted the coil pack with the connector up.
You used wires for a '99 XJ 4.0.
The connector is pointing straight up on your install.
If so I am guessing that the connector pointing up is what is causing this.
The connector on mine is on the side pointing towards the firewall and the wires are more then long enough.
These are the only shots I have of the install.

Very nice, i never thought to rotate the coil pack. That appears to make everything nice and clean. And it certainly brings the plugs closer to the pack. Its going to be nice next day or so, good time to do this. My bracket was made by a buddy who is a sheet metal guy so i drilled the holes in it for a vertical mount. Is the bolt pattern square? If not i will have to drill new holes. Only other thing i did different was put a wedge of foam between the bracket and the coolant bottle. With only one mount bolt on either side, the bracket had a tendency to shake . Thanks for the help

No it is a rectangle by the looks of it.
See the first shot.
Good thing I took that picture cause I would be damned if I would remember. LOL.
You have to look close but one thing I did do was replace those sheet metal/self tapping
type screws that secured the overflow tank with some small nuts, bolts, washers, and lock washers.
I figured cause of the added weight there I wanted to secure it better.
