Default Seat Bolt - Broken & Fixed

I want to put new carpet in my 1995 2 door XJ, so removing the seats is a must. The two bolts in front of the seat backed out, no problem. I covered the rear center nut and bolt with penetrating oil, and it reluctantly came off. The rear outer bolt (the one that has been exposed the the exterior of the Jeep) broke, with the head snapping off, even after the penetrating oil treatment. I was about to start cutting and drilling, but I found this stud/bolt extractor at my local auto parts store. Best $16.99 I have spent on any tool.

It took some work, but I tightened it on to the exposed bolt under the Jeep, turned like hell, and it broke loose, screwing the bolt out to the underside of the Jeep. See pics below. No real rust on the threads, oddly enough after 26 years, but man, this bolt was seized like hell. Anyways, worked like a champ, and can/will be used in the future, for sure. A must-have for any tool box!

And a few pics of the new stainless steel bolt and washers installed. I covered the treads with more penetrating oil to ensure it screwed into place easily.

Now I might have to pick one of those up because mine snapped too and I really don't wanna drill them out.
Thanks for sharing.

I snapped off that exact same bolt in my 98 2 door lol

I went the cheapass route though. I just drilled another hole straight through the floor at the very end of the slot in the bracket and put a bolt through them both with a nut on the bottom.

Better than a pipe wrench. I've used the chuck on my drill plenty of times to get the rest of a snapped screw out.
