??? I have a fully loaded 89 larado power seats power windows. No ABS though thank god!
It does not have a console on the ceiling.
Sure in the 23 years it's been around somebody did not put it there?

i have a 96 but dont have an overhead they made a plate that went between the two visors you dont need an overhead to have keyless

I have the limited, its the highest model. Over the laredo, over the pioneer, over the sport, power everything, leather seats, and countless options. I don't have an overhead console. I think someone put it in afterward if you have an 89 with one. Look up pictures of a 90, they came with the overhead console. I'm sure its possible, but not like that from factory.

Those old remotes used infrared technology which is somewhat limited and almost line of sight. Thats why the little receiver dome is mounted on the inside of the roof by the windshield.

The factory key fob remotes fall apart after awhile and are expensive from the dealer. They show up on occasion on eBay but aren't cheap there either. I did find an aftermarket one but it only lasted a year or so on my '93 XJ.

I think a much better solution is to convert to a RF remote with one of the Valient keyless entry systems. you'll get better range too. Check JC Whitney or other auto part suppliers. I got a basic system with 2 remotes for about $35-$40 from JC Whitney. It comes with color coded wires and ties in to factory wiring in the driver's door. The box can be mounted on the kick panel or under the dash.

it didn't have an overhead console . I'm pretty sure it was an extra plastic piece in the fleeing .dedicated to the key fob thing. I got it from the original owner o yes I am positive it was all factory. It even said keyless entry on the window sticker. I have a picture showing off the new headliner but the keyless entry thing is just out of view.
