Seem to be stuck in part time 4wd
I just bought a 1995 xj sport with a 4.0 HO tested the 4wd out but it seem when you engage the lever next to the automatic shifter it goes into the different modes of 4wd but dash indicators only show up for part time 4wd and is still lit after putting it back into 2 hi. Please help!! Also my reverse light don't seem to be working.

Until you get better advise from someone who knows better......NO! I don't think you want to drive it in 4wd on pavement, period. Not made for that. You should try backing up, sometimes quite a-ways. If you jack it up, (in park) one front wheel will do I think, and spin the wheel the front drive shaft should turn. If it's really stuck and you need the Jeep, remove the front drive-line.
Just jack one wheel. If you do both the other side will turn the other way.

Is just the light on but you have no bucking or binding on turns?

What positions does the indicator have next to your transfer case lever?

Try this. First get under the jeep and have someone shift the transfercase and see if the linkage is binding up. Second try going in reverse around 5 mph and shifting the trans case from part time to 2wd should pop out. Your transfer case was not made to be driven in 4wd on pavement and I would not do so for an extended amount of time.

The lever is in 2wd now so should I put it back into part time 4wd and go in reverse and then put it back into 2wd?

Okay, so you have no binding when making turns, right? That means you're in either 2wd or 4wd Full-Time.
With the trans in Park and the parkbrake set, jack up one front wheel. Can you spin it one full revolution?

Good goen! Now that it's free......That spray chain and cable lube is pretty handy. You can bean something at a couple of feet, then the foam sticks, and the lube soaks in as the bubbles burst. I use it all over. You can get in the crack with the window down and get the lock and window mechanisms inside the door. Hood hinges, latch release linkage.....I'm getten all exited here. "It is a suitable lubricant for most of your day to day Jeep needs". The army's 40th try at making a Water Displacement product is not the greatest lubricant.
