Sending unit problems
90 xj fuel pump replacement was a nightmare but I got it done. Fuel pump is great, the sending unit, not so much. After the install I filled it with gas, letting the pump click off a couple of times. The tank is definitely full but the gauge only shows a fraction over 3/4. I haven't figured out how much gas I have when it flashes empty, but it should be about 5 gal. Question: Is there a way to calibrate what the sending unit is doing or do I have to pull the pump and bend the float rod to correct this ( like you used to do for commode floats) lol???

Perhaps the metal rod got bent upon installation?

My thoughts too, although I was extremely careful with it. I assume I'll have to take it back out. Any info on the proper float position or any way to test the sending unit with the pump out?
